    Dr. Ron Burnett's academic career spans forty years. He was recently knighted by the French Government — Chevalier de l’ordre des Arts et des Lettres. He is one of the founders of the discipline of Film Studies in Canada. He is completing his 16th year as President of Emily Carr University, the longest serving head in the University’s 85-year history. Dr. Burnett's has published three books, sixty book chapters and over one hundred journal articles. In 2002, Dr. Burnett was awarded the Queen's Jubilee Medal for his contributions to Canada. He was named Educator of the Year by the Canadian New Media Association in 2005 and inducted into the Royal Canadian Academy of Art in 2004.
